About this song

How to convert between fractions, decimals and percents, in one West Coast boom-bap track. The video builds a conversion triangle on screen as the song goes, so you can watch each rule light up while you hear it.

Verse 1 covers what each form means (percent means "per hundred," a fraction is part of a whole, decimals use place value), how to turn a fraction into a decimal, and the benchmarks to know by heart. Verse 2 covers decimal to percent and back, percent to fraction, decimal to fraction, and how to compare. The beat switch hits the tricky ones: repeating decimals (1/3 and 2/3), 1/8, percents over 100% and under 1%. The outro takes 3/5 through all three forms and back.

Made for grades 6-9. Teachers: it works as a warm-up or a review before the test. Lyrics are on screen with the key terms highlighted.
